The Satellite T135 is engineered to feature the comfort and convenience of a standard laptop yet in an ultra-thin package. It features a full-sized keyboard and full-sized touchpad with multi-touch capabilities, enabling greater flexibility to browse and control what's happening on-screen with gesture commands--including two-finger pinch, swipe, rotate and scroll. It's also been designed to be environmentally conscious with a power-efficient, mercury-free LED backlit display that also provides brilliantly colorful imagery for photos and video thanks to the native HD TrueBrite screen.
Thanks to the built-in webcam and Toshiba Face Recognition software on this machine, you'll enjoy a more convenient way to communicate, log on or share your laptop among the family. Other Toshiba innovations include a hard drive impact sensor that protects your data and a USB Sleep and Charge port that enables you to charge electronics peripherals--like your cell phone or MP3 player--even when the laptop is turned off.
It's powered by the dual-core Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Intel Pentium SU4100 processor for advanced energy efficiency. Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
With its integrated Draft-N Wi-Fi networking capabilities, this laptop provides up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range using 802.11n-compatible routers as you would with 802.11g networks. It's also backward compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found at Wi-Fi hotspots and in older home routers). It's also outfitted with Bluetooth connectivity (version 2.1 + EDR), which enables you to communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and mobile phones. This notebook has a 13.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels (native 720p for high-definition viewing). Jump Lists
New in Windows 7, Jump Lists take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. To open a Jump List, just right-click a program icon on the Windows 7 taskbar. (You'll also find them on the Start menu.) What you see in a Jump List depends entirely on the program. The Jump List for Internet Explorer 8 shows frequently-viewed websites. Windows Media Player 12 lists commonly-played tunes. Your Jump List missing a favorite? You can "pin" whatever files you like there. Jump Lists don't just show shortcuts to files. Sometimes they also provide quick access to commands for things like composing new e‑mail messages or playing music.
Improved Windows Taskbar
In Windows 7 you can "pin" favorite programs anywhere on the taskbar for easy access. Not crazy about the icon lineup? Now you can rearrange them any way you like by clicking and dragging. | Well, it has been almost a month since I bought my T135 and I can say I love this little Titan.
Pros: -LIGHTWEIGHT -Powerful. With Windows 7 64 edition, I can get as much performance as a my other Core 2 Duo Toshiba Sattellite A135 laptop. - I can get 9 hours plus of battery life (Eco Mode). As per the other person stating that he can get only 4 hours of battery life, that is in full power mode. Try to get 4 hours of battery life at full power from any other machine and you will fail miserably - Great Graphics - Great sound if you do the following: Go to Control Panel Select SMART AUDIO On the lower part, select SMART EQ/3D SETTINGS Select CUSTOM Pull the buttons up (i have them still at number 7 (from out of 15), quite enough as you will see) Enjoy AWESOME volume!!! - Wifi 802.11N!!! I mean, I an get my 802.11N signal from some 200 meters in my garden!!! - Gorgeous looks -FAST, FAST, FAST I have edited video and music (iTunes and a couple of DVD rippers) and it does them in a copule of minutes - IT'S a TOSHIBA!!!! - Video conferencing (Skype and Messenger) it's really good, although the camera it's only 1.3 megapixels - After 10 hours of use, at full power, it barely gets warm. You can put it on your bag right away - Ultra Low Voltage means Ultra Low Energy Consumption. I mean guys, we have to be environmentally conscious. This babe just uses 19V of energy at full power, down to 8-10 Volts at Eco Mode. NEUTRAL - I hate on every laptop (no matter what brand) the touch pads. I always use an external mouse. CONS - You can do a fingerprint exam on the laptop. I do not know why it gets so finger dirty (and believe me, I wash my hands very often). | Firstly, definitely fix your sound setup as per JMesa's descrition.
[Also, JMesa, the units of power are Watts (W) not Volts (V), but your numbers are otherwise correct.] The quite miserable Touchpad response can be fixed in the following manner. But please note that doing this will also lose the zoom and rotate capability built into the as delivered Touchpad driver. I do computer graphics and the tradoff of a far more usable Touchpad with no rotate and zoom was well worth the switch. Perform the following selections: Start Control Panel Hardware and Sound Device Manager (under Devices and Printers) Mice and Other Pointing Devices OK, from here on I cannot provide the exact names because having already done this change the names are no longer available in the menues for viewing. Select the Touchpad and then the Touchpad Driver and then Delete it. You will receive a warning but continue with the deletion. Then you will have to reboot one or more times as Windows 7 detects the lack of a Touchpad driver and simply installs its own driver. The Windows 7 Touchpad driver is more user friendly than what Toshiba provided, but it does lack the rotate and zoom that very few would use anyway. I bought this laptop for my spouse and she likes it after I fixed the sound and Touchpad. It does have a really long operating time on the battery when you set it up for minimal power usage. |

| o Pros:
------- -Very light, you can put put it on your lap and work for a long time without feeling its weight nor its heat. -Comfortable keyboard -Touch pad is NOT too annoying, it just needs time to get used to. -Battery lasts for a long time (eco-power mode). Even though the screen brightness is low in this mode, you can't tell that it's low and you will feel that it has a very clear image (not dull). o Cons: -------- -It gets dirty really quickly with your fingerprints everywhere. I have to clean it pretty often so that it would look clean -It doesn't have any mechanical buttons for adjusting the volume (mute, +, -). Everything is adjusted by combination of keyboard keys (Fn + 3,4) - You need to adjust the audio settings "from smart audio" in control panel (described in details bu another reviewer) to get a good sound out of it. FYI: I have only had it for 1 month and I don't use it for "heavy load" jobs like computer simulations or so. I just use it for writing and editing my reports, presenting my work, checking email may be with windows media player running in the background. Overall it's a very good computer especially if you need to travel with it a lot and use it on battery mode for a long time. That's all! |
